The future of web3 gaming shines ever brighter as Confiction Labs partners with the Xai Foundation to deliver the underlying technology to power the studio’s marquee gaming title, Riftstorm. This is a major step towards Confiction Labs’ goal to launch Collaborative Entertainment for players within the Occultical universe where Riftstorm is set.
From its inception, Riftstorm’s vision has always been to enable gaming legacy that was not bound to a short-term event or an individual’s memory. By allowing players to add to their items’ legacy through in-game achievement, they may enhance the item’s value or significance. You can read more about our vision for legacy here. This partnership will anchor Riftstorm’s game assets on the Xai blockchain, enabling the provenance of specific in-game items like player weapons to be permanently recorded onchain. This makes it so that players can easily trade those assets while building and preserving the item’s legacy. With Riftstorm as Confiction Labs’ flagship game, the partnership with Xai promises streamlined and scalable transactions and secured assets for all of the game’s legacy products.
What is Xai?
Xai is a blockchain that was built exclusively for games to allow seamless integration and a developer-friendly infrastructure, making it easy for studios like Confiction Labs to integrate leading technology while remaining focused on optimizing the Riftstorm player experience. Given Xai’s focus on player experience, performance and developer tooling, it was a logical step for Confiction Labs to integrate it into its growing ecosystem, enhancing asset interoperability options onchain.
Xai was built from the ground up with gaming in mind. It is optimized for the performance and scalability that gamers demand. Xai prioritizes low latency and supports high volumes of transactions per second for uninterrupted gameplay. It offers robust support for creating digital assets and in-game items, with integrated management features enabling secure asset transfers and complex asset interactions seamlessly abstracted away from the user. These features may be leveraged in future Riftstorm gameplay iterations to create more engaging interactions and lore.
Xai’s architecture will provide Confiction Labs with the tools necessary to streamline its development of Riftstorm. Built on Ethereum, Xai is also one of the most secure online networks today, but without the downside of expensive fees and technical barriers that some gamers associate with blockchain technology.
Setting the Path for Riftstorm’s Future
With Xai providing a fast, powerful, and secure platform upon which Riftstorm’s legacy-driven assets can function, the game developers at Confiction Labs can focus on doing what they do best: making fun games. At its core, Riftstorm is first and foremost a thrilling looter-shooter ARPG, one that hopes to draw in millions of cooperative players into a gaming experience that they will enjoy for years to come, agnostic to the functions and integrations of its legacy-based assets. Confiction Labs will continue to build its other products and services to fulfill the Collaborative Entertainment vision.
Our goal for Riftstorm has remained the same since day one: provide a quality experience that rivals the best multiplayer games on the market.
Implementing new technologies like blockchain and AI is essential to fulfilling our vision of Collaborative Entertainment. Our goal is that anyone, anywhere in the world, can contribute their ideas to the IPs they love and they can get validation from the market or from developers. With a secure, transparent, digital infrastructure, it will be possible to recognize and reward the original ideas that come from passionate fans who want to see the games they love grow, evolve and improve — bringing the player into the role of a collaborative world builder.
Riftstorm’s partnership with Xai ensures that our gamers will have the opportunity to contribute to Riftstorm’s Occultical universe. Such partnerships form the technological backbone that makes Collaborative Entertainment possible. We are opening the doors and we’re excited to see how our community can build upon our vision for Riftstorm and Occultical.
